LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) is an effective approach to enhancing cognitive functioning in restoring optimal neurological performance. The LENS system measures and records electrical signals from the brain. Using the frequencies from those signals, electromagnetic pulses that come from an EEG unit adjust the brainwaves to its natural optimal functioning. Compared to other brainwave biofeedback procedures, LENS supports the brainwaves in becoming more flexible. LENS will help balance brain functioning and body regulation.
Neurofeedback is a form of connection between the brain and body. It provides overall wellness by regulating the nervous system. While the brain communicates through electrical impulses, also known as brain waves, LENS provides the brain with stimulus to create new neural pathways and avoid repeating patterns associated with anxiety, PTSD, depression and much more. It often helps with alleviating symptoms of stress and trauma and alleviates the physical symptoms related to how we hold trauma in our bodies.
In addition to treating PTSD, anxiety, and depression, LENS can also treat symptoms associated with ADHD, addictions, concussions, migraines, long covid (including smell and taste loss, brain fog and pain), strokes, aphasia, hormonal imbalance, chronic pain and fibromyalgia. The treatment can lower a person’s risk of developing diseases and chronic inflammation.
LENS is often used in conjunction with psychotherapy and other medical interventions. If you are engaged in any of these activities, it is recommended that you stay in close contact with your treatment team. As your brain patterns reset the medication to treat any symptoms will need to be adjusted. It is important to talk to your doctor and inform them of your LENS treatments.
A patient begins by filling out an initial intake form which is reviewed by the LENS provider and a treatment plan is developed. When treatment begins the patient is connected to the LENS system using two grounding ear clips and two channel sensors. These clips and sensors are connected the earlobes and brain sites using conductive paste. They are then plugged into a EEG unit. The EEG unit is used to send signals to the brain and also record your brain wave activity on a computer. There are a total of 21 sites on the brain that are treated with the sensors.
Each treatment is done using a two channel system to integrate smoother in the brain functioning. The amount of sites treated in one session depends on a person’s health history and body sensitivity.
LENS uses non-invasive equipment. This means that no shocks, needles or skin-penetrating equipment will be used during the procedure. Instead, LENS sends out extremely faint electrical signals measured throughout locations on the scalp. It helps generate self regulation in all areas mentally, emotionally and physically.
NOTE: LENS does not require focused attention nor does it require the patient to do anything specific during the session. A single session lasts anywhere between a few seconds to a few minutes. Sessions usually occur on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and you will have access to as many sessions as you need. It is difficult to predict how many sessions are required as each patient will have different outcomes. LENS has been administered throughout the world and has helped over 100,000.00 people. Results and amounts of treatments required vary but the typical amount of sessions required range from 11-40 sessions.
